Wasted potential: Fallout 4 teaser site is fake

By

A potential Fallout 4 teaser site, thesurvivor2299.com, has been outed as an elaborate hoax.

Fans of the popular post-apocalyptic series have been following the site closely for weeks now as it counted down to what was expected to be a reveal for Fallout 4 on 12 December.

However in the wake of growing anticipation from fans, as well as Bethesda officially denying any involvement with the teaser site via twitter, the site’s creator eventually came clean.

Describing themself as a “selfish bastard with a lot of money,” the person behind the hoax took to Reddit yesterday to explain their motives, indicating that they hoped that creating a site like this would force Bethesda to release information about a new Fallout game.

Fallout games have been around since 1997 and have slowly increased in popularity over time, eventually exploding into the mainstream audience after a signifigant gameplay overhaul in 2008's Fallout 3.

The site is still up here, although the content has been replaced with sad piano music and a message reading ‘That’s all folks’.
