Epson demonstrates latest tech at flagship Mercedes me Store, Melbourne

Global electronics, printer and imaging equipment vendor Epson has demonstrated how a successful Formula One technology partnerships can affect everyday consumers.

Epson Australia is a sponsor of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team, participating in the Formula One held in Melbourne this weekend. Well, participating is one word for it – winning is another, with the team’s two drivers Valterri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton taking out first and second spots respectively.

Beyond sponsoring the sport, Epson Australia has extended its involvement to now include a wide range of its products and solutions at the flagship Mercedes me Store at 525 Collins St, Melbourne, where consumers can enjoy blending cafe culture with the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle and experiencing the very latest in Epson technology too.

The Mercedes me Store opened in November 2017 and is one of only 11 Mercedes me locations worldwide, and the only one in Australia, featured among cities like Munich, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Moscow.

There are three Epson experiences on display.

Epson Moverio BT-300 AR smartglasses
The possibilities of augmented reality for future ways of working, or sales, or other applications are staggering, and Epson along with app developer Appearition have made a real-time demonstration you can see yourself. For example, don Epson’s Moverio smart glasses, stand in front of a Mercedes vehicle in the showroom and view the engine, vehicle colour options, safety information or other details right before your eyes.

It soon becomes easy to see the opportunities augmented reality can offer. Allow a customer to see details and product information at a glance, allow remote technicians to solve local problems working with someone else to be the hands and eyes, or many more.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas team use the Moverio headsets within their headquarters, garage and hospitality operations at events worldwide.

Epson LightScene EV-100 Series projector
Mercedes me Store visitors will also see Epson’s new and unique LightScene spatial design laser projector. Created to blend into the background with a sleek, conventional lighting design the 2000-lumen WXGA LightScene EV-100 works as either a projector or a spotlight and is ideal for delivering experiential content, commercial signage and décor applications without distracting viewers from the subject.

In the store, the LightScene EV-100 unobtrusively provides information, shows videos, moving patterns and also projection map imagery onto objects. Currently, it augments the wall decor with race-inspired imagery and provides a stylish display that can inspire your business with the possibilities available.
The LightScene EV-100’s unobtrusive design is ideal for the Mercedes me Melbourne visual environment where minimal clutter is key. It is used to provide information, show videos, moving patterns and even projection map imagery onto objects. With the 2019 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix around the corner it is currently deployed to augment the wall décor with race inspired imagery. The LightScene EV-100 presents Mercedes me Melbourne with a stylish and visually unobtrusive display solution, without compromising performance, versatility or reliability.

Epson laser installation projectors
The Mercedes me Store also incorporates multiple Epson EB-L1755UNL large venue laser projectors including a unique multi-display video wall installation with switchable glass and a fully retractable ceiling mounted hidden projector.
