Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c R4 speeds private cloud deployment

By

A new release of Oracle Enterprise Manager allows more rapid deployment of enterprise private clouds.

New and enhanced features in Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c R4 help organisations deploy and manage private clouds.

Changes include push button provisioning, an enhanced API-enabled service catalogue, and automatic detection of data and configuration vulnerabilities.

Database management capabilities are enhanced with a new 'performance warehouse' to help identify problems before they occur, and new data governance facilities to discover and protect sensitive data. Enterprise Manager 12c R4 also provides step-by-step orchestration of Oracle Database upgrades with the ability to rollback changes.

Fusion Middleware management has been improved with the provision of a consolidated view of multiple deployments, automated provisioning for SOA, and a new Java VM Diagnostics as a Service feature (pictured above).

Release 4 also includes self-management capabilities, a new security console, and more finely grained security settings.

"Since its inception, Oracle has been leading the way in innovative, scalable and high performance solutions for the enterprise. With this release of Oracle Enterprise Manager, we are extending this leadership by providing enterprise-scale capabilities for planning, delivering, and managing private clouds," said Oracle senior vice president of systems and cloud management Prakash Ramamurthy.

"We call this 'zero-to-cloud - accelerated'," he added. "These enhancements help our customers to expedite their adoption of cloud computing and prepares them for the next generation of self-service IT."
