Microsoft Office 365 now live through AXONVX virtual exchange


Data centre-as-a-service provider NextDC and Microsoft have announced that private, high-speed connections to Microsoft Office 365, via Microsoft ExpressRoute, are now available on-demand through the AXONVX virtual exchange.

Microsoft Australia Director, Partner Business and Development, Phil Goldie said, “Microsoft is pleased to have NEXTDC on board offering customers access to Microsoft ExpressRoute for Office 365 which is something our customers and partners have been asking for since we launched ExpressRoute earlier this year.”

Goldie said ExpressRoute for Office 365 enables customers to establish a private, managed connection to Office 365, delivering many customer benefits including “more predictable network performance, the ability to better manage network availability, the reliability that comes with dedicated connectivity and additional data privacy”.

According to Goldie, as more organisations depend on Office 365 for document collaboration and communications, they will come to depend more and more on the network connectivity they have between their users and Office 365.

NEXTDC CEO Craig Scroggie said there was growing demand by Australian organisations for direct, high-speed, secure connections to ExpressRoute and Microsoft’s locally hosted cloud platforms.

“Facilitated by AXONVX, new opportunities have been created for Microsoft’s local customer base to access their cloud solutions through NEXTDC, and enjoy lower latency and increased connectivity security.”

Scroggie said a number of AXONVX service provider partners are already connecting to ExpressRoute to integrate Office 365 and Azure with their own cloud solutions.

The NextDC/Microsoft deal coincides with Microsoft’s announcement of the next wave of partners in its expanded 1-Tier Cloud Solution Program, around 13 months since the unveiling of its two Azure data centres in Australia.

Writing in his blog on the Microsoft website, Goldie says Microsoft is “pleased to announce Microsoft Partner NextDC and Megaport are now offering customers access to Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute for Office 365”.

Goldie says that the success of Microsoft Azure is “testament to both the work and enthusiasm of our partners and to the endless possibilities for innovation and business transformation that come hand in hand with the cloud”.

“CSP partners have the ability to offer the entire portfolio of Microsoft solutions and services and create custom offerings for their end user customers, giving them a significant advantage over the rest of the ecosystem.”

“Our new CSP 1-Tier partners – Buttonwood Cloud Exchange, Rackspace, SaaSPlaza, Datacom, Dimension Data and Data#3 -– will find that the benefits of CSP are numerous. Partners own and control the customer billing, they are able to differentiate by selling integrated offers and services in a single customer package and can directly provision, manage and support their customers to drive higher customer satisfaction and services revenue.

“We congratulate the companies on being named as CSP partners. We really value our partners and to further support them in their transition to the cloud, we are making investments in programs and resources to help them build profitable businesses.

“Over the coming weeks each of the partners will share more details as they gear up for launch.”
