Under the four-year deal, the US$7.5 billion Dimension Data will be the principal technology services supplier for the entire Hostplus IT environment and will supply implement and manage Hostplus' IT systems to boost operational performance.
The IT services agreement will see Dimension Data provide services including operations and service management, and undertake an almost total refresh of existing Hostplus enterprise technology, including a core compute infrastructure, IT security and operations, storage infrastructure, WAN, LAN and wireless networks, along with its cloud footprint.
Hostplus services the hospitality, tourism and recreation industries, which employ large numbers of young people in their first jobs in pubs, clubs and restaurants – and for almost 30% of people in Australia, Hostplus is the first super fund they join.
"Increasingly, this performance depends on robust, flexible IT systems. And while agility and efficiencies are critical, it's also crucial that today's IT landscape lays the groundwork for meeting the demands of the future.
“It's terrific to partner with Hostplus to transform its technology foundation, positioning the organisation to embrace the opportunities of today and tomorrow."
Hostplus has nearly one million members, 124,000 contributing employers and more than $23 billion in funds under management.
According to Hostplus chief executive David Elia, "today's announcement means we can stay ahead of the curve when it comes to technology, and ensure that our members receive frictionless service when it comes to managing their super - an imperative for industry super funds like Hostplus."
Elia says Dimension Data was selected after a comprehensive out-to-market process as having the technical capability and technology solution that “best suited Hostplus' business needs, while providing a simplified technology delivery model”.
“Hostplus is expecting to achieve a significant uplift in technology capability by providing our staff with leading workplace tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Skype for Business and industry best practice security tools while adopting Azure to improve the resiliency of our technology and improve compliance and risk postures.
“The new technology capability will enhance Hostplus' ability to continue to engage and collaborate internally and externally with our valued staff, members, employers and partners. Hostplus expects to complete transition to the new technology solution by mid-2017.”
