Schneider solution protects against electrical downtime

By

Energy management solutions provider Schneider Electric, has launched its Power Outage Insight Solution (POI) in the Australian market.

The intuitive crisis prevention and recovery system is designed to maximise continuous access to safe electricity across critical power applications, and is tailored for a number of sectors where uninterrupted power supply is highly critical including data centres, mining, oil & gas and healthcare.

Schneider says that in case of a power failure, the software performs real-time diagnostics to quickly identify the source of the problem and provides concise and easy-to-follow power restoration instructions.

“Power outages can have a huge impact on an organisation’s bottom line and its people. The Power Outage Insight Solution acts as a 24/7 in-house electrical expert, supporting staff in daily operations and emergency situations,” said Paul Thompson, Engineer, Schneider Electric.

“The complex nature of an electrical distribution network coupled with upgrades and expansion over time leads to an electrical architecture that is often less than ideal and poorly documented.

“Inconsistent settings can create unpredictable outages that are problematic to resolve because there isn’t a clear overview of electrical loads. Ensuring systems like POI are in place can provide an intelligent and reliable solution.”

Thompson said the POI solution also provides a wireless breaker closing remote control device that allows users to close breakers from a safe distance.

“The POI solution is cost effective and easy to install in both greenfield and existing sites for immediate improvement in power reliability. Its embedded database provides traceability of repairs, maintenance, and changes to device settings and layout for ease of long-term management.”
