Puppet Enterprise 3.0 boosts orchestration capabilities

By

Puppet Labs' Puppet Enterprise 3.0 cloud automation software provides new discovery and orchestration capabilities, among other features.

Puppet Enterprise 3.0 is billed as a complete cloud automation system for enterprise customers.

The new version provides new discovery and orchestration capabilities, allowing the use of any data source plus the ability to deploy changes progressively rather than using a 'big bang' approach.

Puppet also claims near 200% performance increase and 100% scalability improvement from version 3.0.

Other features include pre-built configurations for Juniper, Cisco, NetApp and other vendors' products; support for Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM AIX, Solaris, and all major Linux distributions; and a graphical interface for discovering and browsing service resources in real time.

"Some of today's largest and most successful SaaS clouds use our solutions to automate their infrastructure,” said CEO and founder Luke Kanies.

"With Puppet Enterprise 3.0, we're making the scalability, orchestration and software-defined capabilities that power those SaaS clouds accessible to any IT organisation, enabling customers to take full advantage of their dynamic infrastructure."

Puppet Enterprise costs US$99 per node, but can be used free of charge with up to 10 nodes.
