Home Cloud Accounting Xero reworks iOS app for iPad

The latest version of the iOS app for SaaS accounting system Xero includes iPad optimisation.

Xero has for some time offered an iOS app to make it easier to carry out accounting and bookkeeping tasks on the go, but it was designed for the smaller screens found on iPhones.

But nearly 70% of its customers use tablets, so the new version of the Xero app includes iPad optimisations.

These include landscape and portrait views, and faster and simpler transaction reconciliation.

"Today we go beyond just delivering the world's most beautiful accounting application on any device. We are realising our vision of optimising Xero to increase the productivity of small business owners on the world's most popular devices," said Xero chief product officer Angus Norton.

"Xero for the iPad is the most compelling small business application available today, making it simple and easy for people to manage and grow their businesses."

Chief marketing officer Andy Lark added "We are seeing a shift in the way owners run and manage their small businesses.

"They are moving across devices and locations while completing a single task. And they want access to critical information with a touch, while on the move.

"Optimising Xero for the iPad answers that need and furthers Xero's lead on legacy software providers."

The Xero app is free, but is only useful in conjunction with a Xero subscription.

Xero plans further mobile enhancements to its system, including the delivery of notifications to wearables and other devices.

In related news, Xero has released three guides for small businesses in iBooks format: Accounting tips & tricks for your small business, Perfect payroll for your small business, and How to make invoicing easier for your business.
