The Intuit sponsorship, to be launched at TankStream Labs in Sydney tomorrow (Thursday 20 Nov), will assist in delivering a national series of events aimed at providing skills, connections and inspiration for Australia’s growing startup community.
The launch will be attended by the Parliamentary Secretary for Communications, Paul Fletcher, and will include a panel discussion on the Australian startup ecosystem moderated by Intuit Australia Managing Director Nicolette Maury.
Fletcher said Australia’s economy has much to gain from the development of a stronger startup sector, and events like Startup Weekend “play a substantial role in helping to foster Australia’s startup culture”.
Darcy Naunton, Startup Weekend Australia leader, General Partner of Adventure Capital and Managing Director of the York Butter Factory incubator space, said the support of Intuit QuickBooks Online is vital in helping to foster the next generation of Australian businesses.
“Our goal at Startup Weekend Australia has always been to bring together passionate leaders and entrepreneurs to help inspire, educate and empower the community. With Intuit QuickBooks Online as our national lead sponsor, we can run more exciting Startup Weekend events and provide startups with additional resources to build a business in 54 hours.”
According to Intuit Australia Managing Director Nicolette Maury, startups “have been at the heart of Intuit’s success”, making the collaboration a perfect fit for the company which itself is known as “a 30 year old startup”.
“Startup Weekend events are about less talk, more action. They are about enabling, not telling, entrepreneurs how to connect the ideas and people they need to grow a new company and, as the primary sponsor in Australia, we’re excited to be able to connect with hundreds of bright sparks across more than 24 events in 12 locations.
“Intuit QuickBooks Online is committed to being a part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Australia and, together with Startup Weekend Australia, is proud to be here for our startup and small business community.”
According to Maury, the Intuit product is built to help startups succeed. “QuickBooks Online exists to help startups and small businesses realise the power and potential of their businesses. We want startups to be successful and we help make that happen by providing intuitive financial management solutions in the cloud so they can run their business from wherever they are and always know the status of their finances to make the best business decisions.”
