With the COVID-19 vaccination program scheduled to start in the coming weeks and the approach of this year's flu vaccination season, the arrival of HealthEngine's PAMS is well-timed.
As the company points out, the overlapping mass vaccination programs mean having a system to streamline the patient and pharmacy experience is more important than ever.
PAMS integrates with MedAdvisor's PlusOne pharmacy platform to provide an end-to-end pharmacy booking and appointment management platform, including the pre-filling of information from PAMS to PlusOne for automatic submission to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
Other capabilities include online customer bookings, management of walk-ins, support for corporate vaccination programs through an integrated voucher management system, and electronic pre-screening forms.
First to roll out the platform is TerryWhite Chemmart, which will be using it across its network of more than 450 pharmacies around Australia.
"Recognising the important role both GPs and pharmacists play in the patient journey and in particular with the rollout of the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine, there is an increasing need for systems to talk to each other and reduce inefficiency," said HealthEngine CEO, founder and medical director Marcus Tan.
"This helps healthcare providers and ensures patient-centred care. These realities escalated the need for a special solution for the pharmacy market. - We've already signed up over 600 pharmacies nationally to this system with great enthusiasm from the sector. This new integration with MedAdvisor will make it even better."
MedAdvisor managing director and CEO Robert Read said "MedAdvisor has a significant distribution network helping millions manage their medications each year through more than 60 percent of pharmacies in Australia.
"This integration with HealthEngine's advanced patient booking platform, allows patients to find and book vaccinations with their pharmacy and for pharmacies to have a seamless experience to create a vaccination record and where appropriate, claim, upload to the AIR and monitor adverse events. With the increased focus on the role of pharmacies for vaccinations, this is a crucial time to ensure the end to end process is well designed for all stakeholders."
