Embarcadero Technologies' Appmethod allows the creation of apps for Android, iOS, Windows and OS X from a single codebase.
Company officials claimed the product makes development five to 20 times faster than existing tools, drastically reducing overall development costs.
Significantly, Appmethod produces native apps with no need for runtime interpreters or virtual machines.
"We were especially impressed with the IDE and built-in design capabilities of Appmethod," said Branden Spikes, CEO of Spikes Security, an early adopter of the product.
"Normally, we would have needed to use a different code base for each of the platforms that we support, but having a single code-base with Appmethod allows us to get our apps out much faster than expected."
Companies using the same cross-platform development capability via Embarcadero's RAD Studio product include Boeing, Fisher Price/Mattel, General Electric, Hitachi Medical Computer Systems, Intuit, and Siemens.
Appmethod costs $398 per year, per developer, per platform for individuals, or $1299 per year, per developer, per platform for enterprise customers.
Appmethod's Enterprise Mobility Services provides easy connectivity to RESTful cloud services, data and API hosting, and to enterprise database connectors including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Informix. Pricing is based on the number of devices utilising the services.
