Parallels Toolbox gains barcode support and more

By

Parallels Toolbox 5.0, the utility suite for macOS and Windows, delivers new barcode generation and reading functions, among others.

Parallels Toolbox provides a wide range of utility functions, including a one-click file launcher, video downloader, and drive cleaner.

Version 5.0 delivers four new tools for Windows, and five for macOS.

Barcode Generator (pictured above) creates barcodes, QR codes, UPC codes, and more.

Barcode Reader reverses the process, decoding barcodes, QR codes and others, then allows the result to be copied to the clipboard or shared.

Recognize Text is similar to Apple's Live Text feature in that it recognises and extracts text from images. One important different is that it doesn't require an Apple Silicon processor.

Those three are common to both OSes.

The Mac-specific tools are:

Focus on Window – Dims all but one window to reduce visual clutter.

Transform Text – macOS has a built-in mechanism for changing text case, but this tool provides additional options including Snake_case and Kebab-case (useful for manipulating file names), plus the ability to remove empty or duplicate lines.

And the Windows version gains:

Measure Color – an analogue of macOS's eyedropper colour measuring tool.

A seven-day free trial is available.

Parallels Toolbox is sold on subscription at $27.99 a year. Current subscribers receive new versions automatically.
