EMC's next-generation Isilon Scale-out NAS Data Lake products will ship next year, the company announced overnight.
Three products have been announced: IsilonSD Edge, a new version of Isilon OneFS, and CloudPools.
The purpose of the IsilonSD Edge software is to extend data lakes from the data centre to remote offices and other edge locations. It supports the OneFS data services and protocols, and allows up to 36TB of local data to be replicated between the local site and the main data centre.
IsilonSD Edge can be managed via VMware vCenter.
Other changes include flexible software upgrade rollback capabilities allowing application or end-user environments to be restored to their pre-upgrade states as required.
The new CloudPools software gives Isilon a cloud storage tier, providing native connectivity to Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Virtustream. Data is encrypted in transit and compressed.
CloudPools also enables data centre expansion to EMC Elastic Cloud Storage and Isilon as a private cloud.
