It'll soon be the second Tuesday of the month (US time), which means Microsoft is about to release this month's security patches.
The company's usual advance warning (the linked page will become the formal notification once the bulletins are released) lists seven bulletins, six critical and one important.
On the operating system side, the critical bulletins variously address security issues with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 (including R2), and Windows Server 2012.

Applications listed as affected by the July updates are Office 2003, 2007 and 2010; Visual Studio 2003; Silverlight 5; and Lync 2010 and 2013 (various versions in both cases).
The important issue concerns Windows Defender on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
As usual, Microsoft will also release an updated version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool.
The security bulletins are scheduled for publication at approximately 10am on 9 July, US Pacific Daylight Time.
Several non-security updates scheduled for July's Patch Tuesday. Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 will all receive one or more updates.
There will also be updates for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2008, and for the Windows 8 and Windows RT camera codec pack (to support additional formats).
Multiple language packs for Windows RT will be released.
