The three new models are the $599 MFC-J4340DW XL (exclusive to Harvey Normal and The Good Guys), the $295 MFC-J4440DW, and the $329 MFC-J4540DW (exclusive to Officeworks).

Features in common to the new range include print speeds up to 20ppm (with a first-page-out time of just under 6sec), duplex printing (up to 11ppm), 20-sheet automatic document feeder, scanning speeds up to 17 images per minute, a nominal one-year supply of ink, compatibility with the Brother Mobile Connect app, a two-year warranty, lifetime free technical support, and wireless, Wi-Fi Direct and USB connectivity.

There's also support for print-from and scan-to popular cloud services including Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive.

The MFC-J4340DW XL adds a second year's worth of ink, and holds up to 150 sheets in its single paper tray.

The MFC-J4440DW includes an Ethernet interface, NFC compatibility, and a 6.8cm touchscreen. Like the MFC-J4340DW XL it has a paper capacity of up to 150 sheets.

The MFC-J4540DW is essentially an MFC-J4440DW with a second paper tray giving a total capacity of up to 400 sheets.

All three use the same high-capacity ink cartridges: LC436 BK (up to 3000 black pages), LC436 C/M/Y (up to 1500 colour pages), LC436XL BK (up to 6000 black pages3), LC436XL C/M/Y (up to 5000 colour pages).
