The company says the new product reduces complexity and costs less, including a free version available for businesses with up to 200Gb storage requirements, or about 50 servers.
Splunk supported the release of its new product with original research on reducing complexity in IT infrastructure monitoring, studying global organisations. The research was conducted by the Ponemon Institute in conjunction with Splunk.
Findings from Australian IT leaders surveyed include:
- 83% are unsure / don’t currently have the ability to pinpoint problems early because of the adoption of automation and current monitoring toolset;
- 65% say their organisation is challenged by lack of internal resources required to automate the troubleshooting of IT infrastructure;
- 56% say implementing automation analytics will improve their ability to deliver IT projects within budget; and
- 45% of Australian organisations say it will improve their ability to deliver IT troubleshooting projects on time.

Splunk says the product takes minutes to get up and running. Beyond the 200Gb provided additional storage is available incrementally and begins at $3,750pa. The product is an easy way into the Splunk ecosystem and offers an upgrade path to Splunk Enterprise as companies grow, and providing greater facilities to leverage machine data and apply artificial intelligence.
“Splunk is credited with inventing log monitoring, and Splunk Insights for Infrastructure reinvents the entire market by making it faster, easier and more affordable than ever for systems administrators and site reliability engineers to identify and correct infrastructure problems,” said Rick Fitz, senior vice-president and general manager, IT Markets, Splunk. “Splunk Insights for Infrastructure redefines what customers should expect from monitoring and enables them to provide their customers with a positive digital experience while keeping their budgets to a minimum.”
