Bendigo Bank hit by outage

By

Bendigo Bank has been hit by a major IT outage which has put its online services and ATMs out action for most of today.

According to customers — including iTWire staff — Bendigo Bank's online banking service has been unavailable since early this morning, and possibly since late last night.

The issue is affecting the bank's mobile app as well as Web access.

Customers report that Bendigo ATMs and phone banking are unavailable, and at least some branches are said to be unable to process transactions or are limiting cash withdrawals.

There is no indication of the problem(s) on the bank's home page. Attempts to log in to e-banking merely result in a "site can't be reached" browser error.

"It's very poor that the bank has not posted anything about the outage on its site," said iTWire editor and Bendigo Bank customer Stan Beer.

Ironically, the home page does say, "Welcome to the better big bank. When you're a big bank, you have big responsibilities. The first is to do the right thing. It's something we've always been good at."

Bendigo Bank complaints

The latest word from Bendigo Bank at the time of writing was a tweet from around 10am saying: "We’re still working on this unexpected outage with no ETA for a fix at this point. Some branches are also affected and may not be able to process transactions. We will update as we know more. Thank you for your patience."
