The Amazon Marketplace Seller Summit will be held at Jones Bay Wharf in partnership with the Australian Retailers Association and the SME Association of Australia.
Amazon launched its Marketplace in 2000 and sales from sellers on the portal now make up more than 50% of sales on Amazon sites globally.
The company said that more than 500 Australian businesses had registered to sell through its channels when the Amazon Marketplace goes live.
Attendees are expected to include local retailers, Australians running established SMEs, and aspiring entrepreneurs planning to launch a start-up and use Amazon’s Marketplace to reach customers.
“The Internet and technology have the power to level the playing field between big and small businesses, empowering Australian companies, large and small, to grow their sales and their business online,” said Braeuniger.
“We look forward to enabling local businesses to make their products available to a wide audience, not only in Australia, but also worldwide.”
Australian Retailers Association executive director Russell Zimmerman said: "We believe that Amazon’s arrival brings new possibilities to Australian retailers, small and large.
