M-Files launches smart document migration

By

M-Files aims to make it easier for customers to import documents from other platforms by using Smart Migration, a service that combines the company's information management expertise with metadata-driven automation.

Bringing existing documents into a new platform is almost always a time-consuming and expensive business.

M-Files seeks to simplify the job by supporting systematic migrations and providing a means to automatically classify and add metadata to the migrated content.

In conjunction with other M-Files services, Smart Migration allows the seamless migration of unmanaged and promoted content into the M-Files vault, while automatically classifying unmanaged documents, extracting critical information in order to automatically add metadata, and creating reports and detailed overviews of the content that was analysed and migrated.

"Companies are accelerating their move to the cloud to modernise how they do business and adapt to new hybrid work environments. However, content migration can be a daunting and expensive task," said M-Files vice president of product marketing Mike Asebrook.

"The goal of our new Smart Migration service is to make the process as fast, cost-effective, and intuitive as possible by leveraging our leading metadata-driven services to intelligently migrate information from legacy systems and external repositories into the M-Files platform.

"By automatically adding intelligence to documents during the migration process, our customers can trigger workflows and manage data governance effectively, while empowering collaboration and accelerating their digital transformation journeys."
