According to the company, Acronis True Image 2019 is the only home solution that allows users to make full image backups to both local and cloud storage, or that lets users clone an active system disk on either a Windows or Mac system.
The 2019 version includes the Acronis Survival Kit, enabling the creation of an external drive that contains everything the user needs to restore a system from boot media to the system partition and all back-ups.
Other changes include automatic back-up when an external USB drive is attached, an improved Universal restore feature (the WinPE builder detects network adapters and configures network settings so a user can recover their system via Ethernet or Wi-Fi networks), and a Backup Cleanup utility that allows users to free up disk space by manually selecting unnecessary versions of back-ups and deleting unneeded files.
Acronis's AI-based anti-ransomware technology stopped more than 200,000 ransomware attacks on 150,000 customers last year. This capability is built into all of the company's backup products, including True Image 2019.
Since the current average ransom is $522, Acronis points out that this protection has saved its customers more than $104 million in damages.
True Image's ransomware protection capability has been enhanced with the ability to protect data on network shares and NAS devices.
"How people use data is constantly changing, as are the threats to that data," said Acronis president John Zanni.
"To create the kind of modern protection users need, our approach is to deliver total cyber protection, blending proven backup with effective security features. The Anniversary Edition of Acronis True Image continues that long-standing commitment."
Acronis True Image 2019 comes in three editions:
