OVHcloud expands database-as-a-service offerings

By

Cloud computing company OVHcloud now offers six database-as-a-service solutions in collaboration with European software company Aiven.

The new database-as-a-service solutions (DBaaS) (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, Apache Kafka Mirror Maker, RedisTM, and OpenSearch) along with five other solutions (Apache Cassandra, M3, M3 Aggregator, Grafana, and Apache Kafka Connect) are all available in the first quarter of 2022. Through its public cloud database portfolio, OVHcloud supports the adoption of managed platform-as-a-service for companies.

OVHcloud offers open-source databases so customers can benefit from the latest updates and innovation from user communities. These solutions and standards are supported by the open-source community and guarantee portability and reversibility, avoiding any vendor lock-in.

DBaaS solutions benefit from the features of the OVHcloud range: an accessible solution, a price/performance ratio, and predictable pricing and data location choices where organisations are not subject to extraterritorial laws.

“It’s essential for us to respond to our customers’ evolving needs, and to adapt to an ever-changing market. We have therefore decided to support them by offering a managed, trusted offer for a wide range of database engines. To achieve this, OVHcloud relied on the technologies from the European software player, Aiven, with which we share the same values – open-source innovation, interoperable standards, accessibility, and simplicity,” says OVHcloud chief technical officer Thierry Souche.

“With this partnership, we are providing open-source technologies that implement digital cloud infrastructure and utilise data to drive business and innovation. We are happy to be part of this changing moment in the history of OVHcloud,” concludes Aiven chief technology officer Heikki Nousiainen.
